Shannen is currently attending the prestigious Culinary Arts Program at Midwest Culinary Institute.

Competition "Mise en Place", 
Organization was half of the battle!

Decorations were made ahead of time, as allowed by the competition rules. 
Everything you see is edible. A combination of Rolled Fondant, 
Sugar Paste (Gum Paste) or White Chocolate.

Streamers, "dorm" keys, chandelier earrings  and buckeyes, all made out of Sugar.

Bouquet of sugar tulips and individually wired folded leaves. 
They turned out to be a hybrid between a parrot tulip, and a regular one. Oh well!

Printed with my edible ink printer on edible paper "Acceptance Letter".

Coffee mug made 100% out of Chocolate! with an edible Ohio State Sticker.

"Chandelier earrings" made out of sugar, and fondant buckeyes with their paper wrappers...

Sugar Indian Hills School keychain!...this was placed of top of the keys ring to simulate that it was all in one piece. Cake decorating is all about tricking your eye!

Royal icing to glue stacked tiers, and my Cake Structure System from "Stress Free cake structure"...
I couldn't live without them!. This structural system is what I use on EVERY one of my cakes. Regardless of the diameter of the cake, there are only 4 pegs attached to the metal disc. It is SO easy to remove it from the cake, and there is minimal holes left on the cake. They are part of my rental items, and are always returned to me, and covered by a rental deposit. Kind of pricy, but SO worth it!

For the cake flavor I chose: Chocolate Truffle, layered with Semi-Sweet Chocolate ganache, paired with White Chocolate and Red Raspberry Mousseline. Our "client" was described as a Chocoholic 
who loved anything chocolate and berries!

I have received many compliments about my makeup. Thank you!. It was not professionally done. But here is the secret. I took a makeup class with the ridiculously talented Nancy Dawson, owner at Brideface, she taught me a few tricks that have improved my make up skills from average to great!

The funniest thing of all, is that as I worked, I did not hear anything happening around me.  Except for the voice of my kids, every now and then. Motherly instinct, I guess!. Besides, while I wear my reading glasses, I only can look at near objects!...one of the reasons I couldn't look up!

The Happy Chicks are beyond nice, and so very talented!!! It was an honor working side by side with them. I told them that we must collaborate on a project soon, and create a magnificent cake under 
"the Sugar Realm of the Happy Chicks"...because I am a happy chick too!
