To celebrate Nikki and Nigel, we freshly baked the most delicious French Vanilla Sponge with Raspberry and White Chocolate Mousseline and Almond Sponge with Amaretto Mousseline!
Nikki challenged us to suspend her cake...and add some lights into the mixture, for the most whimsical cake we've created to date!
Draped for the ceremony...Everything looked "magical". I wish I could have stayed to see Nikki's face during the great reveal!!!
From all the cakes that we've made, this is one that took a while to figure out!
The translucent tiers were made out of wafer paper. The contained LED lights where safely placed over chocolate pieces, isolated from the real cake and concealed by our hand made wafer shades!...the effect was so whimsical!
Lights covered by glass pebbles were placed inside the the glass vase that acted as cake topper!
We were thrilled (and worried at the same time :) with the idea of displaying such heavy cake on a suspended platform.... built by the 20th Century Theater. I took the time to meet with the owner and brainstorm about the construction method and look to be used for the platform. Mark was a true pleasure to work with and to top it off, it turned out that he is a master carpenter!!! His platform turned out so sleek and well executed, in perfect harmony with the design and look of our cake!
What a way to wrap up our 2014 Wedding Season!
Our client sent us a note saying "the cake was AWESOME. No one believed it was a real cake, until the cake ceremony happened, guests thought it was a decorative centerpiece, not a cake!. The cake was so delicious, everybody loved it. Thank you!"
