I love having a small role in my client's special occasions. Making sugar flowers is a personal favorite. Yes, they take FORERVER to make, and yes, I love every minute of it. It's interesting to me, that when you create a new sugar flower, you can impart them with certain personality. Think of a Rose, it can be a Romantic Rose, a Modern Rose, a High Couture Rose, a Formal Rose...each one with a specific aesthetic and appeal!
Over these 10 years of business, I have safaely removed sugar flowers from many, many cakes and I have boxed them for my clients. Often times they are preserved by the bride, mother-of-the-bride and even grandmothers!. From all the boxes I have used in the past, this is my very favorite one. When kept away from direct sun light and moisture, these flowers can be preserved indefinitely!
“Choose what you love, and be the best at it”. This was one of my many thoughts during my flight back from Seattle, after dropping my daughter off at College. I designed this business around my kids, among other reasons, because it allowed me the flexibility to be present, to be there. Since opening in 2010 in Cincinnati, Ileana Saldivia’s studio, Sugar Realm has become a preeminent wedding and celebration cake design boutique. In 2018, due to her husband's job, Ileana and her family relocated to Philadelphia, and so did her Sugar Kingdom. The studio’s wedding cakes are regularly featured in leading bridal, lifestyle, and cake decorating magazines. In the December 2015 issue of “Cincinnati Magazine,” Sugar Realm was named “Best of the City” and featured on the cover.
