On November 18th, at Fox 19 News Cincinnati, I demonstrated how to create "sugar inlays" using rolled fondant. This is the technique used to create the beautiful (and super easy) Holiday cake seeing above.
This was my third and final demo scheduled for 2013. The morning show has a new team member: Jacki JIn!...who I had the honor to meet. Our segment was the second she had done for the channel! ![]()
It cracked me up, that Jacki (who is 6'1") was wearing slippers. I (with my humble 5'4") was wearing some pretty tall heels, and still looked like a toddler by her side!. ANd I was not the only one!.
Rob, her co-anchor for the morning show stands up on a stool when reporting by her side. So clever! Jacki is a natural, so sweet and easygoing. I had a great time conversing with her, and convincing her that this project was something that she, and anybody else could master! Right after the segment was over, one of the morning producers approached me and said, "the cake boss is in the studio, and he was watching your demo!". Would you like to meet him?. ![]()
My jaw dropped and without hesitation I responded: "Of course!"
Buddy was waiting in the green room. I introduced myself, and gave him all proper (and nervous) compliments. Being the easy guy that he is, he replied saying that what I had brought to the studio was really "impressive!. We chatted for a little longer. Immediately after that he asked if I wanted a picture taken! What a great people person he is. Always talking about the role family plays in his life. After his own segment was aired, he probably spent 30 minutes or so, chatting with the staff and having pictures taken by whoever was around. Buddy was in Cincinnati promoting his new tv show, new book, and live tour, held at one of our largest theaters, the Aronoff center. |
