Sugar Realm's Baking Classes at Cook's wares
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: From the acclaimed founder of Sugar Realm, Fine Bakery and Cake Design, learn how to bake, assemble and decorate super delicious cakes like a true PRO!
On these hands-on classes, you will learn easy techniques and tips that will take your cakes from ordinary to extraordinary. On each class you will work on an individual project to take home. Classes were designed to be taken as a 3-part-series or as stand alone classes. Space is Limited.
PART 1: BAKE LIKE A PRO
DESCRIPTION: On this class, you will learn to bake delicious and easy cakes and buttercreams. We will review techniques for torting, filling and icing cakes like a true pro, including tips on how to easily achieve perfectly smooth cakes. Hands on project: Tort, assemble and ice individual mini cake.
PART 2: DECORATE LIKE A PRO: INTRODUCTION TO ICINGS, TEXTURES AND COLORS
DESCRIPTION: On this class you will learn about the different mediums to ice and decorate delicious and awesome looking cakes. Hands on project: Ice and decorate with rolled chocolate or fondant individual mini cake.
PART 3: DECORATE LIKE A PRO: INTRODUCTION TO CUSTOM MOLDS AND SUGAR FLOWERS TECHNIQUES
DESCRIPTION: On this class you will learn and create molds of favorite objects to replicate in sugar. You will also learn to make basic and intermediate sugar flowers, as well as being introduced to advanced real looking flowers.
We will review techniques for making basic fondant, gum paste and chocolate flowers, to intermediate edible wafer paper creations. We will conclude with a demonstration and introduction on how to create real life stunning sugar flowers that you will cherish forever. Hands on project: Make sugar replicas for decoration, and make Fondant, gumpaste and wafer paper flowers to take home and preserve for a special occasion.
Where and How to Register?
Since opening in 2010 in Cincinnati, Venezuelan born Ileana Saldivia’s studio, Sugar Realm has become a preeminent wedding and celebration cake design boutique. In 2018, due to her husband's job, Ileana and her family relocated to Philadelphia, and so did her Sugar Kingdom. Sugar Realm’s cakes and confections are known for their sophisticated flavors, unique designs, artistic sugar flowers, innovative techniques, and architectural compositions. The studio’s wedding cakes are regularly featured in leading bridal, lifestyle, and cake decorating magazines. In the December 2015 issue of “Cincinnati Magazine,” Sugar Realm was named “Best of the City” and featured on the cover. Saldivia’s blog “Life in a Sugar Kingdom” is regularly visited by hundreds of cake enthusiasts and professionals.
