To celebrate her 50th Birthday, our client (and dear friend) ordered a petite cake that represented her, and for that reason, we created the most fabulous sugar figurine...all decked in Black and Gold to coordinate with the color palette of her event,
Sixteen super thin layers of Almond Sponge, paired with Dulce de Leche infused with cream of Whiskey were baked for this special occasion...it is our version of a "Smith Island" Cake and it is absolutely delicious!
Our cakes are always iced in the most delicious Rolled Chocolate, rather than Rolled Fondant. It melts in your mouth just as chocolate does, and acts as the perfect canvas to decorate,
Our client is to say the least FABULOUS, and we wanted to capture her spirit in a glamorous and funny way,
Her figurine was made out of sugar paste and with the intention to be preserved indefinitely,
It was safely built on a bamboo skewer that runs lengthwise and extend to the bottom of the cake board!
We provided the client with a box that will safely transport the figurine after it is being removed from the cake.
The challenge of creating free standing cake toppers is in the logistics of creating individual parts that are assembled when fully dry. It is so hard to be patient...but it sure pays off, because each piece will retain its shape and support the weight and manipulating necessarily for the final details.
